City Parks and Pool
Lawrence Community Pool, located in the southeast part of town by the football/baseball/softball fields, has a pool area ranging from 3 to 12 feet as well as a baby pool. A small park area, adjacent south of the swimming pool, features picnic tables, grills and playground equipment. Come join in the fun at 300 South Phillips.
Memorial Park, a larger park, is located on the east edge of town along Highway 4. This park proudly displays the Veterans Memorial, a brick display honoring those who have served our country from the Lawrence area. Along with the memorial is a newly constructed shelter, a restroom/concession stand, grills, ball diamond and playground equipment.
Lawrence Area Attractions
Lawrence Country Club
Lawrence Country Club is located 3 3/4 miles west of Lawrence along Highway
4. This 9-hole sand green course is famously known for the “Cow Chip
Open” an annual two round tournament held the second Sunday in June
in conjunction with the High School Alumni Banquet. The ladies version of
the tournament is held the weekend before. The course also has a spacious
club house, numerous cart sheds for local members and a busy calendar of
events for all starting in April and running through September.
Liberty Cove Recreational Area
This spring-fed lake, located in Webster County, is 2 miles west of Lawrence,
on Highway 4, 2 miles south and then ¼ mile west. The 36 acres of water
and 247 acres of land is owned and operated by the Little Blue Natural Resources
District.
Recreational opportunities include hiking trails, shelters, restrooms, beach, picnicking, grills, camping, playground, water well, horse riding trail, arboretum and small game hunting, and boating less than 5 HP. The lake's water quality is considered excellent due to many natural springs. The lake is stocked with bluegill, bass, catfish and northern pike. Winter activities include sledding, skating, snowmobling and ice fishing.
Rep Valley Trap Range
Located 6 miles west of Lawrence on Highway 4. Around 40 area youth participate in trapshooting from March-May. They hold an annual shoot in the fall that is open to the public.
